Math 1890
Spring 2012
Homework
All homework is due at the beginning of class on Wednesdays. No late homework will be accepted. One homework assignment (the one with lowest score in case you were wondering) will be dropped. The homework will be graded in a cursory manner, but if you don't show your work you may lose points.
For some of the homework you may find it convenient to use a hand held calculator, an online calculator, or a computer software program such as MATLAB, Maple or Sage.
If you want to work from home, there are a number of free MATLAB clones available online.
If you want a MATLAB clone and you're using Windows, I recommend FreeMat. It isn't perfect, but it's easy to install. If you're using Linux, I recommend Octave. If you're using a Mac, you might try Scilab. On the other hand, you won't be allowed to use a high powered calculator or computer on the exams. You'll need to understand what's going on under the hood.
